The Carthage Public Library is supported by a levy on real estate taxes paid to the City of Carthage.
If you do not own real estate within the city limits of Carthage, you do not pay library taxes. In lieu
of paying the library tax, nonresident patrons are required to pay a $20.00 nonresident fee each year.
This covers your entire household for one year, and each person may sign up for their own individual
library card.


Effective July 1, 2009:

We can no longer waive the nonresident fee for cardholders or residents of other library districts.
The nonresident fee will be due when the card is renewed.
